Wall Spray Foam Insulation in Mississauga
Insulating exterior and interior walls in new builds and renovations
Wall assemblies are where spray foam’s air-sealing advantage is most visible on paper: a stud bay filled with batt insulation still has gaps at the edges, around electrical boxes, and wherever framing isn’t perfectly square, and each of those gaps is a path for air to move through the wall. Spray foam fills the cavity completely, closing those gaps as part of the same application that provides the R-value. Exterior versus interior walls
Exterior walls are insulated primarily for thermal performance and air sealing against the outside. Interior walls are sometimes insulated too, usually for sound control between rooms, such as bathrooms, home theatres, or bedrooms next to shared living space, where open-cell foam is often the better fit due to its sound-dampening properties, rather than closed-cell foam’s air-sealing and moisture-control strengths.
New construction versus retrofit wall insulation
In new construction, wall cavities are open and accessible before drywall, making this a straightforward part of the build schedule. In a retrofit, insulating an existing wall usually means removing drywall or siding to access the cavity, which is a bigger job and typically only makes sense alongside a renovation that’s already opening up the wall for other reasons.

Frequently Asked Questions
Exterior walls matter most for energy performance. Interior walls are usually insulated for sound control rather than thermal performance, and are worth it where noise between rooms is a specific concern.
In some cases, injection foam can be used through small access holes in existing drywall, though this is a different product and process than open-cavity spray foam applied during new construction or a gutted renovation. Foamworks can advise on which approach fits an existing wall.
Rim joists are often priced and addressed separately from wall cavities, since they’re a distinct part of the framing with their own access considerations. Ask about including them when getting a quote.
